MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ABS

Can't remember what led me to it but I found a thread on corroded reluctor rings causing a severe problem with braking - invoking ABS when it wasn't required and consequently increasing stopping distances. There was talk of having to replace the CV joint, when the toothed reluctor ring that is part of the ABS sensing system is only heat-shrunk onto the joint. Making enquiries elsewhere elicited this source of reluctor rings and info on how to fit them -

Doesn't specifically mention ZS but I'm told they are the same as the earlier cars.

That is good Paul.

We had a problem with a front reluctor ring on my wife's V reg R200. The ring had split in the valley between 2 blips making the gap between those blips a little larger than the others. At very low speed braking the ABS was recognising this as wheel lock and activating.

The garage we use found the problem quite quickly as they have had it on a number of Audis.

We replace the reluctor rings, rather than the whole CV joints. Significantly cheaper for our customers!

When cracked, the reluctor rings can also rotate at a different speed to the wheel, or stop rotating at all together.

So how much are yours and do you supply them on their own?
