MG MG Y Type - YT Road Trip
Hitting the highway Wednesday morning - driving "MeG" to Melbourne over two and a half days via Pacific Highway & Hume Highway - about 1800km, should take around 21 hours behind the wheel. Give me a wave if I pass your way !. I will stop for MG signs & Y-Types en-route.

Good luck with the trip...having driven through Melbourne earlier in the year (and got a speeding ticket near Hoppers Crossing)whilst visiting our daughter in Bundoora I trust the YT won't exceed the 100kph limit! Keep us all posted of your progress.

Well it was a trouble free trip in "MeG" (YT-3861) - 1800km in around 20 hours towing the Y-Trailer. Two overnight stops and a few social visits along the way to break the trip - left Brisbane at 9am Wednesday, arrived in Melbourne at Midday on Friday. I lost count of the friendly wave of the hand and toot of a horn - every time I stopped for fuel or a rest a conversation with a fellow traveller started over the car. I spent a lazy Saturday at the "Motorclassica" and met two YT owners with cars unknown to the register !. Hopefully we can keep in touch and they will add their cars to the Register & Y's on Parade. It is amazing that we are still finding new cars out there. Y's are certainly survivors. The YT is certainly a great "Tourer" for Australia.

Great Ambassadorship Tony - thank you. I too had fun today, while being driven around on a great MG Car Club Northwest Pacific Centre run by my wife, I was able to chat with another "new" surviving YB owner on my cell phone! As you say - it is great to find news of previously unknown cars and even better to be able to add them to the Register and also to welcome them into the International MG Y Type Register by adding them to Ys on Parade if we can. As a reminder to everyone, not everyone who has a car registered with us wants to add their car to the visual gallery of Ys on Parade and that remains totally their perogative. I would ask people to please respect some people's wish to participate on this Bulletin Board but not necessarily have their cars, or all their cars if some, on Ys on Parade. To ask them to do so on this service can cause offense to some of our members - it is inappropriate to ask them to do so here. Thank you for understanding and respecting this. Paul
