MG MG Y Type - YB rear brake hoses.
| I started to work on the rear brakes and thought I would replace the rear hoses as they look awful. I have new TD hoses, but I soon discovered that the YB's lines are different, and the TD's are too short. The Y needs a 19inch line Any idea where I can purchase a pair of lines? Any help will be appreciated. Mike |

| Mike The TD/TF hoses SHOULD be the same as the YB ones. Where are you encountering problems? Is the flare on the pipe coming up short of the hose if the hose is on the wheel cylinder? If so I think that it is probably your pipes that are too short rather than the hoses and that the hoses that you have are actually non-standard after market ones on the car currently. That being so, a good brake shop SHOULD be able to cut your pipes, then add a joiner piece in so that the end can be effectively lengthened to reach the hoses that you have. Paul |

| Hi, are you sure you need two hoses for your rear brakes as I thought there was only a single flexible hose to allow for movement of the rear axle. The second hose (on the nearside) is for the rear jacks. The flexible brake hose should run to a 'T' piece fixed to the rear axle and the fluid then passes along solid pipework to each backplate.
