nearly ready to fix body to chassis can anyone tell me if there should be anything between body and chassis when it is bolted on

Fitted originally were (I think) pieces of thick felt [about 1/8 in] - you can get suitable rectangular pieces in packs in hardware stores. Helps if you put some waxoyl on them before fitting to stop any moisture absorbing and causing rust.
