MG MG Y Type - YA Pull Type Starter
| Ever since I have had the car, the starter button has never returned fully. Having fitted a new dash, I have the same problem reconnecting. Looking at the photo which follows, I find that the outer flexible cable is about a quarter of an inch short whereas the inner stiff wire is too long by the same amount. The coupling to the starter switch has been removed in the picture. The under bonnet starter switch works fine. Has anyone any ideas on this? Is the dash knob assembly from a different model perhaps? I am reluctant to cut the wire first without knowing why? TonyK

| Tony I am assuming you have the pull starter switch? I would say that the outer cover should go all the way up to the bracket so as a simple cure you might want to get a choke cable from either a wrecker yard or a new one, and just throw the inner cable away and cut down the outer cable cover and have a go. Cant say that I have ever come across this before though. Paul |
