MG MG Y Type - YA Front Hubs
I am in the process of rebuilding my front hubs and have two issues I was hoping someone could help me with: 1/ The dimensions of the "O" rings used in place of the original felt seals. 2/ Suggestions for a suitable method of replacing the inner bearing retainning ring. Mine have been previously removed using a hammer and screw driver making it difficult to obtain any purchase to fully tighten them. I am sure that few people would pocess the correct service tool. Any details of a makeshift tool would also be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Andrew Sorry I have been away on vacation deep in the Columbia River valley since the last website update and just able now to log in to the BBS if nothing else for a long time!! Lots to catch up on by the looks of things. Any way, to answer your 1st question, email me on my webmast@mgytypes with your full postal address and I will send you a pair of front O rings. As to how to redress the bearing house mount - take it to a qualified machine shop and have them attempt to polish out the old scratch marks where the previous guy reefed on it and see if they can then get the new bearings to fit. Failing that you may have either to get a speedi-sleeve fitting or similar if you can ... or start over and try to get a new retainer through the classifieds. Paul

Hi Tony I posted Andrew a pair from here last month and he has them now so no worries. Sorry if you have spent some time looking - neither of us thought to close this one off here. Paul
