| This has been about for some months - has anyone looked at it?It's a Trader selling the car. There was also a YB on sale recently from a dealer in Norfolk for £18k. It is the car that was owned by Dick Jacobs and was sold at the Festival of Speed Auction at Goodwood in 2007 for around £7k. Has this also been sold? It was a great buy at Goodwood with an excellent provenance. Sincerely Jerry |

| I saw both cars just after Christmas. The white car is a bit of a wreck with no discernable racing history. Only a couple of owners though. The racing history idea seems to come from the fact it has a paddock pass sticker on its windscreen from Brands Hatch (I think) but that could just have been for access. I have long lusted after the Jacobs car and was the underbidder at Goodwood. Should have bought it then. The vendor wants a lot of money for it now and talks about it being eligeble for Goodwood and FIA papers. Dont know why youd bother with the latter as the car would never be competitive. As to the former, you'd need to pull the car to bits to race it now, and that would be a shame, especially as it would not be competitive even then. Really its only for a collector who likes its history. Having said that I wonder how original it is. It does not have its original engine or indeed the engine it raced with. The current unit is a TD2 gold seal engine (with the big clutch as opposed to the competion TD/C unit the vendor seems to think it is)and lacks the inlet manifolds. Could not get a reading for oil pressure as guage appeared jammed. Interior was tatty and as such may be original. Car has been resprayed BRG as was originaly maroon. No discernable rust. Might have got close to what the vedor wanted if the engine had been original. As it isn't, and the car has been restored a great deal but in an unknown way, don't think its worth the money. If you were going to restore it to concourse condition you'd need to spend at least £15k. Useable car in the meantime. |
