MG MG Y Type - YA driveshaft Speedi-sleeve dimension?

Now that my driveshaft oil seals are leaking again, I'm wondering if anybody used the SKF Speedi-sleeve on the driveshaft to perfect the sealing surface?

If so I'd be interested to learn which partnumber is suitable.

At the risk of teaching you how to suck eggs, are you absolutely sure that both mating surfaces of your half shaft and the wheel bearing face are absolutely flat and absolutely free from debris of any kind before replacing the gaskets?

If there is the slightest unevenness or bump the axle oil will find a way past it.

Willum,

Have you thought about fitting sealed bearings, they would eliminate any possibility of your diff oil getting into your brake drum. I have fitted them on my MGTD with great success.

I believe the bearings fitted are LJ40 according to the YA manual. The equivalent bearing number is 6208. The sealed bearing number is 62082Z see attached link for UK supplier.

hope that helps Chris
