MG MG Y Type - Y TYPES ON HEARTBEAT
Dear All For those of you who enjoy watching old movies and TV Series - to wallow in nostalgia, spot old cars, trains or music from an earlier era - I guess that many of you will have seen 'Heartbeat'. This TV series, which is now in its 17th series started in 1991 and is based around North Yorkshire. It features some great 60's music, some interesting steamies (though not sadly Gods Wonderful Railway - but then its not based in the South West)and some memorable motors. In the first few series PC Nick Rowan finds and rebuilds an MGTA - which by chance I have the front wings from, though that's another story! A few episodes have shown a YA. I was watching a repeat episode on Tuesday 18th December on ITV3 and they are showing a repeat of Setries 5, which was released in 1995. At the end of the episode 'Its all in the game' (No 10) there is a maroon YA. I cant read the number plate but I am sure that someone may know who owns/owned it. It's worth watching just for the music and the cars - the acting is not up to much. The series which started in 1964 is now permanently stuck in 1969. It's more than likely that there are shots of this Y in earlier editions. Sincerely Jerry

I bet this is the same car that appeared in a Miss Marple episode in the 80s?

David May be, or may be not as that car is currently residing in Hampshire. You can see it in action in the Ys on Film ... and other media page at www.mgytypes.org. Paul

The acting is awful, and can anyone really believe that any police force would have ALL the officers on the same shift every day? Who covers the other two shifts? Why do they get to investigate serious crime, where is their CID? The story lines and police proceedure are laughable, but the transport is interesting. NC. ( retired copper....)

CID came from Whitby had a Rover(90). Which incidentally I painted.
