MG MG Y Type - Y-Type Wheels

I am currently measuring up original Y-Type wheels and want to know the PCD of the wheel studs.

It seems to measure at around 5 x 112mm, and assuming it would be an imperial dimension and not metric (unlike the XPAG), this converts to around 4 7/16".

Can anyone confirm this measurement ?.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Tony

Id be happy to confirm it - what is PDC please?

Thanks

PCD is Pitch Circle Diameter, which is the diameter of the circle that the wheels studs are aligned.

Difficult to measure without the right tools on a 5 stud setup - 4 stud is easy.

Tony,
Alas I can't confirm. As you say measuring the PCD of 5 holes is tricky. I traced the holes of the wheel on a piece of cardboard and drew lines between the holes to find the center in order to measure the PCD and came up with 108mm..... I measured on the center of the hole. If I have time this weekend I'll go to the local tire-fitter for an measurement with the proper tools.

I posted this some time ago under "useless wheel information":

Here's one for the "anoracks" and probably even for them useless information about YA wheels.

If I measured correctly the diameter (or radius, I don't know, it's called "lochkreis" in German...) of the 5 studholes is 108mm. It shares this dimension and 5 holes with:

Ford Windstar/90's Thunderbird
Citroen XM
Jaguar X+S-Types
Peugeot 605/607
Renault Laguna
etc?

Can anyone try if any of above wheels fit a YA?

With their 15" wheels you would need a 185/80-15 radial to get about the right size compared to a 5.25x16 crossply? Might be nice to know if the original wheels need to be restored?

Tony,

as it happens, I've just replaced my YA half shafts with the modern version. As you can imagine, this makes the measurement relatively easy to make as it's just a case of measuring from the centre of the half shaft (which is marked on one of my shafts) to the centre of a hole that a wheel stud comes through. According to me, this radius measures 56.5mm, making the PCD 113mm -pretty close to your own measurement of 112mm.
