MG MG Y Type - Y Type book review.
| Y Type Book Review. Is your Y Type library up to date? Some of the now out-of-print books will soon be available on disc I am reliably told. Paul Barrow and David Pelham are putting the two best known ones onto disc and hopefully they will be available soon. These are a history “M.G. Y Type Saloons and Tourers” by John Lawson, and an excellent restoration data book “Let There be ‘Y’s’ by David Lawrence. There are two books that you can download free of charge from the internet, the first is another history “Post War M.G. Saloon Cars 1947-1990” from Paul Barrow’s web site at < www.mgytypes.org > and a rather technical reference “M.G. Engines 1935-1990” from this, Mike Plumstead’s site at < www.mgcars.org.uk/engine/mgenginehistory.rtf > . I have heard there is one last hard copy of this book available from the MGCC Y Register (contact details at the end). An explanation of the foibles of your Y Type’s engine ‘Living with the XPAG’ and a technical help book ‘The Gearbox Fitted to the XPAG’ are both available from the M.G. Octagon Car Club (again details at the end). A collection of light hearted info ‘Living with the M.G. One and a Quarter Litre’, a book to assist body repairs ‘Nuffield Body Shells’, a collection of odd data ‘Y Type Information’ and soon to be stocked collection of old road tests ‘Y Type & Magnette ZA/ZB’ by Brooklands are all available from the MGCC Y Register. The MG Octagon Car Club is on < info@mgoctagoncarclub.com > and the MGCC Y Register < mike&sue@homestead22.freeserve.co.uk > . Some are written by me BUT all profits go to the relevant club to forward their goals of helping the enthusiast. NC. |
