MG MG Y Type - Would anyone be willing to lend me a fuel pump?
| I mentioned here earlier this year that I'm taking my car to France in September for a couple of weeks, to include the Circuit des Remparts at Angouleme. While I'm taking the usual stock of replacement parts to cover eventualities, I have just realised that, as my car has the fuel pump I bought it with in 1970, I've never organised a spare. I don't expect a problem (the pump was rebuilt in the 'nineties and has run just about perfectly since then) but I know that's tempting fate, and so I wonder if anyone would be willing to lend me a spare pump, just in case? It would of course be returned after my trip. I will defray all costs of getting the pump to me, and back to you, of course. Or I can collect and return it if the distance isn't too great (I'm in SW London). I know this is a slightly unusual request, but I really would be very grateful if anyone can help. Thanks, Tim |

| Come the time- cometh the man! Well done Jerry. Tim, I have just come in from the garage/workshop where I have dug out and tested an SU petrol pump for you. However, Jerry has beaten me to it, but if you get any problems, let me know. I always carry a spare SU in the car with me and it has the bracket already on it that goes on the side of the battery box. This way if there is a problem, I can change it over in a few minutes. Have agood trip. Keith |
