MG MG Y Type - Worlds fastest Y type
Does anyone know if the 104 mph Y type still exists. It seems it was the owner one Mr Dick Benn who had the bright idea to see if it could exceed 100 in 1950. Presumably after the engine expired it may have been fitted with a MOWOG replacement. I assume it was a YA so if anyone owns a car with a replacment engine or one with a large hole in it, who knows it could be the record breaker

I have an article about this somewhere with pictures if you are desperate, and assuming that the registration is readable, the registrar would know if the club is aware of it. However, I doubt if it is the fastest Y anyway. Frank Vautier's racing Y is reputed to have had a top speed of 115mph.

Rego number was KCD 698. Good photo in "MG A Pictorial History" By John Tipler. Driven by none other than "Goldie" Gardner.
