MG MG Y Type - wiper motor on TA
Is it any big deal pulling the wiper motor out of the TA? I imagine I go inside and take it out from screws under the dash and it seems like a simple chore, No?...Thanks...M

Hi Marvin You might be better placed asking this on the T Series TA, TB, TC Bulletin Board Service. Dont know if any Y owners would know this one, I dont. Paul

Paul, on the TA it is fitted on top of the windscreen, (like the YT?), as the Y is next to the T on my keyboard, I think Marvin means the YA. What DOES it take to dismantle the wipersystem? My system failed last Sunday halway on a rainsoaked rally....

Yes I meant the wiper motor itself....thanks...

To remove the wiper motor from a YA/YB, as said first diconnetct battery, then leads to the motor. Remove wiper drive cable from motor by removing the front plate (hex headed bolts), then unscrew from under dash board. Take care motor doesn't slide right off the fire wall though! Rainex is a great product though. Because there is no real spring tension on the wipers on early cars like the Y, the wiper system is not the most efficient in the world anyway. Paul
