MG MG Y Type - Wheelspin Abroad
| Just to let you know that the book 'Wheelspin Abroad' by C A N May which featured in a recent 'News' on this site can be borrowed from your local library on interlibrary loan - I am currently reading a copy - there are a few copies here and there still - although you have to specify the 1949 edition as there are various editions/years of this same book title with different content. The 1949 edition has some nice photos of the YA reg no. ENT 261 on its trip from England to Portugal. If you want to buy a copy there are a few for sale via 'abeboooks' on the internet. Anyone know what happened to this car. |

| David Hope you are enjoying it! Actually there are three books by CAN May - Wheelspin, Wheelspin Abroad and More Wheelspin. I think that may be where the confusion lies. However, there is even better news ... Last year after reading it I traced what happened to Foulis - the original publisher. Foulis is now owned by our dear friends at Haynes and they have very kindly consented to an exclusive to the MG Car Club Register permission to reprint the Part I of Wheelspin Abroad which relates to the story of the Rally in the MG YA. Accordingly, this book was extensively worked on and retyped by yours truely, and proof read by my dear wife and has been laid before the Committee for consideration to add this to our book range. At this point I am now merely waiting confirmation that the committee have decided to add it - and then it will be available for sale in soft back binding. I think David Mullen, David Pelham and Jack Murray who have all read it would rank its readability along with that by Len Shaw Rallying in a Works MG and a great addition to your book case. Even Sara enjoyed reading it! So ... watch this space as they say! Paul |
