MG MG Y Type - Twin Carb Return Springs

I am currently "adjusting" the Carburettor return springs on a YT.

These are the rotary type on the ends of the spindles.

I searched all my references and can't find the recomended adjustment. Just how much pre-load (twist) is correct.

Just by experimenting, it seems about a half turn is the minimum and one full turn too much.

I also seem to have a different design of spring/adjustor than that shown in my SU parts diagram for YT. When did the spring design change ?.

Can anyone offer any advice ?

Thanks
Tony Slattery

Are you sure that they are the original carburettors? I'm fiddling with a pair of H2's from an early Magnette and they have the rotary springs, too.
I trust you know the Australian firm Sumidel? They can offer advice? http://www.sumidel.com
