MG MG Y Type - The repair of the clutch cable and the brake maste

I overhauled the brake master cylinder of YB the other day. And, a clutch cable was replaced, too. I made the hole of 70mm x 50mm at the bottom of the pedal box to do this work. What kind of method does everyone take when this work is done?

I skinned both hands, got a stiff back and took about half a day to do the same operation on my YA ... but I did it through the opening on the side.

It did set me wondering what a wonderful job for the new boy or girl at Abingdon to be given!

Hello Paul

How are you?
I haven't been maintaining the inside of the pedal box after I get Ytype.
What removed the pin of each pedal felt mine with the impossibility.
Some brake oil leaked out this time.
I thought about the repair to make a hole for such a reason.
I have time to remove a pin shortened very much when the hole of 50mm x 70mm is made under the pedal box . The power from the clutch cable acts on the pedal box.
The position of the window of the bottom side is a little left from the side window because of that. @And, the part which block that hole is necessary.

Speaking of that box on the chassis. Should there be some kind of cover on it? My pedalshaftbox is exposed to the elements and I don't think that is as it should be?

A picture by mail of a (fitted) cover would be much appreciated.

There should be a lid on the box side, held on by four 1/4 bsf bolts. Your box should have the holes there, you could 'rub' a sheet of paper over it to get a 'ghost marking' in dirty oil of what the cover shape should be, and where the holes are. I have an extra hole in mine, with a long-necked grease nipple poking out so I can grease the shaft easily. I have a NGT replacement shaft that is drilled for grease to each pedal bush.

The grease nipple came from an old universal joint.
