What do they know of driving who only new cars know
Who simply press a button or switch and off they go
Who do not turn a handle untill they're like to burst
Who have no deathly struggle to get from top to first?

What do they know of driving, who only new cars know
Who drive what pace they fancy and go both fast and slow
Who do not need two brawny arms to hold the wheel to steer
Who never need [with broken brakes] to go in bottom gear?

What do they know of motoring, who only new cars drive
Who set out never doubting they will to time arrive
Who have no complications impossible to right
Necessitating leaving it and walking home at night

But we who are old car drivers have vast experience!
What do WE know of driving? Our knowledge is immense!
And like a loving mother, each childish sympton know
We learn her idiosyncrasies and how she likes to go

Her choke is very sensitive, and we must carefull be
Her mixture must be just the thing, or else it wont agree.
The man with a bran new motor-car will never, never learn
The pride of prompt arrival. The joy of a safe return

Don't think that we old-car drivers are jealous of brand new cars
We're fond of our ancient buses, and proud of their many scars.
We'd hate to be parted from them, and though you may think it strange-
If we had the chance to exchange them, we woulden't?
Just WOULDEN'T we change!!
