MG MG Y Type - Sunroof Removal
I need to remove the sunroof for painting and to replace the rubber seals. Is the removal as simple as it sounds in the book. Open the roof half way then jiggle the sides up and remove the screws to the "filets"? Then remove the bolts to the guides. It sounds too easy.

Dan The technique IS simple ... it is its execution that maes it difficult! It is exactly as it says it is in the manual. Keep at it. Best wishes and good luck Paul

Dan I had to remove the sunroof from my YB recently when the locking mechanism seized up. It is relatively easy as Paul says. It is also easy to damage the paint, both on the sunroof panel and the main roof. I suppose that you are not worried about damaging the paint on the way out, but only on the replacement. I applied several layers of masking tape to all areas where contact was possible and managed to complete the removal and installation without damaging the paint unaided. The workshop manual shows it as a 2 man job! I hope that this helps. Mike
