MG MG Y Type - Spare tire compartment
| As to the two places we put a screwdriver in to twist open the spare tire door on a salon..Would a new or used complete hinged unit be available as one of mine has a broken spring..Or can I just buy a spring?..Simple but annoying problem that I would love to correct...Thank you |

| Marvin Yes is the answer to your question. They are very complicated pieces though and are not cheap to make. You can try contacting Mick Beakhouse at Sportscar Metalworks - see the links page on THE website (www.mgytypes.org - to remind you!). He is based in the UK and does not have email. If you think you may have a problem getting money to him let me know and as we have accounts in both the US and the UK we can help you witht that. He will need to know if it is for a YA or a YB as they are different. Generally he likes to work from your old one to be sure to get the dimensions right. If you call the UK, they are 8 hours ahead of Pacific Time so 4:00 am here is 12:00 noon there. See how you go and drop me an email off the the BBS if you need me to get involved and we can trade phone numbers etc. Another solution would be for you to send me your old one as I have an old spare I might be able to canibalize to make yours into a good one. Again, email me off line and we can discuss. Regards Paul |
