MG MG Y Type - Sister Cars Y5102 & Y5103

I was interested to see that Y 5102 has been added to the register. When restoring my car, Y5103 we had trouble identifying the correct chassis number as it had been partially obliterated, all we had was Y51*3. Also the guarantee plate was missing. After some great detective work by David Lawrence, Mal Hickman, and myself, we decided the car had to be Y5103.

It would be interesting to obtain the body number, right hand chassis number, and any other info from Bryan McArdles car to finally confirm my car is Y5103.
(Bryan can e-mail me on above address)

However, during our initial investigations we soon found out that MG did not necessarily follow set numerical
patterns on car , engine, and body numbers.

Hopefully the info will give some confirmation, and put my mind at rest!

Gday Mel,
Both body and engine sequences were mixed up by the time they reached the assembly line. Sometimes I find in my TF records a body or engine number which is waaaay out of sequence, suggesting rectification work.

Cheers,
Matthew.

Please note that thanks to Jack Murray who provided details of Y5102 we have confirmed that 5102 & 5103 have consecutive Engine & Body numbers, proving that Y5103 is my correct car number.
Thanks to all
Cheers
