MG MG Y Type - Silverstone Report
| Thanks to Anderew Coulson for your report for those of us too far away to attend. Maybe we'll make it next sunny year as you seem to have had at least three years worth of rain. Would you please be so kind at to elucidate on the basic type of M.G. in the MMM race you depicted as many had special bodies. I think I detected an NE replica sans s/c and another NE rep mit s/c - is it therefore not an NE rep at all!! How many YTs were there and how many at the 60th Weekend? We Aussies think we set a record with 13 at Maitland, NSW. Anyone disputing that - although I realise the year has six months to run? We are putting my wife's YT to good use this weekend to take the bridesmaids to our daughter's wedding ceremony. Sorry Y Typers but she insisted in being driven by Dad in his TF! Keep on driving'em. | As someone once said Rob "There is only ever one bride, but always a few bridesmaids" - or put more simply, "A bird in the YT is worth two in the TD"! Not of course that you can get two in a TD ... unless one is driving, and that's not much good to you! :-) Paul |

| Not sure of the exact criteria to be a triple M car for racing, but the types at Silverstone on the weekend were: KI, K2, K3, NA, KN spec, PA, PB, Montlhery midgets,R type (ex Belle Vue)J1 plus a Wolsely hornet special and the winning car was a lovely Lagonda Rapier! (full reults and timings are at: http://www.msttiming.com/mgcc/2007/72553.pdf) Only one YT was at Silverstone this year, there were 8 YTs at the Spring Run in May (also in the rain!) If you send us some more YT's I'm sure we can find owners for them, Cheers Andrew |

| Andrew, excellent write-up for Silverstone by the way. |

| I also thought your write up was excellent Andrew, and I was sorry, but relieved, to note that you didn't come and watch the Sprint on Sunday in the pouring rain. The YB went very well and was only 2 seconds slower than a tuned TC! However I did manage to spin it twice, once going in to Vale and the other time at Club, 20ft before the finish. They do handle very well in the wet, the first spin I think I could have avoided, the second spin I did become a bit of a passenger, especially without seat belts! It is a very safe event so I hope to see the Coulsons competing next year. Cheers - Andrew |
