MG MG Y Type - Seat covers
How many hides are needed to reupholster the seats?
ButchTaras
Probably two. I did mine in the mid 1970s and got four hides from Connely. Used three because I replaced the rexine wherever it was with leather and the fourth was left over; stored and it and it rotted. The leather used looks better than when first installed now that it has acquired some patina. Terry

Terry is correct - 2 hides minimum required as the inner part of the back of the front seat cannot be cut from the same hide as the rolled top of the front seats because of the rolled edge. Not cheap, but then nothing else looks right - and the rolled top edge is really comfortable. Hats off to the designers for comfort ... unless you are a cow providing the leather! Paul

Do NTG still sell cover sets? Or anyone else for that matter, and has anyone experience of fitting them? Otherwise I need someone close who can make some up - this side of the ocean! Graham
