MG MG Y Type - rim color-YT
Should an almond green painted YT have ivory or almond green rims.? Also will hubcaps for these 16" rims only fit the YT and not fit the 15" TD rims. Any vendor sell new replacement YT hubcaps. Ours are pitting and will have to be rechromed. P.S. - Thanks for the bumper and fuel pump answer. Our bumpers are fine, just needing to be rechromed. There is a guy on ebay selling td replacement bumpers from original dies for only $ 69.00 Car # 2853 Ron

Ron I will let David Pelham post an answer on the rim color for you although when I respray my US/Canadian YT Almond Green I will be doing the rims in the same color. Do you have a formulation for the Almond Green? If not I can post one here for you? On the matter of the hubcaps, they are the same as YA so if you go to the website (http://www.mgytypes.org) and click on Regalia you can buy a set there. They should NOT have medallions in, so these are correct for you. Paul

Ron Jeremy Harvard, who restored YT3863 (it is on YTs on Parade) did a lot of research on this subject and concluded that all YTs, irrespective of body colour, had 'Yellowly' Cream wheels. If you look at the photograph of YT3863 you will see the colour he opted for. I am afraid that I am not convinced about this being true on all YTs but it could have been the case for Almond Green Cars. I think that either the cream or 'same as body colour' options are acceptable; it's personal choice. Paul has answered the question on the hubcaps; use YA ones. These are available from the Y Register Regalia. However, if you buy locally make sure that they are not sourced from Asia. Regards
