MG MG Y Type - Removing the dash board
Can't find any illustrations of this in the workshop manual / handbook. Do I really need to do this to replace two panel bulbs?
Marc Hanson
Hi Marc No. Actually there are 3 bulbs behind the dash. If you are a good contortionist and can get upside-down in the driver seat you can get your head behind the dash without removing the front seat. You will then see the 3 mounting brackets into which the bulb holders are push fitted. Simply (yeah is anything simple??) pull the old bulb holder towards the front of the car and it should come out. There may be some resistance from rusting on the holding bracket so go gently at first and if there is rusting just apply a very light coat of Copperslip or Molyslip lube to the metal of the holder before replacing the holder in the clip. The MGCC Y Register sell very much better (aka brighter) bulb sets on the Regalia page at very reasonable prices. Good luck Paul

Paul, thanks for this. Only two bulbs of the three are gone. Will visit the Y reg shop!
