MG MG Y Type - Racing Success for UHK111
| Just to update you on UHK 111's racing career since last summer: In September 2010 she came second in class and was fastest MG at the Brighton Speed Trials picking up the Benn Trophy for the latter - her first trophy for 56 years. In April this year she competed at the GRRC Members Sprint at Goodwood and shaved a good five seconds of her lap times from the previous year. On the 31st May she competed in the Crystal Palace Sprint http://motorsportatthepalace.co.uk/Gallery11/Adobe%20Web%20Gallery/index.html attracting favourable comment from race goers and Simon Taylor the editor of Autosport. She also proved several seconds quicker than last year - in fact she was quicker than a Typer 35b Bugatti.. In the process she did break part of her rear suspension but due to sterling work in a very short time by Classics and Sportscars of Essex she was ready by the end of the week for.. The Jersey International Festival of Motoring where she won her class on the Moonlight Sprint on St Helier water front, the Westmount Hill Climb and the Mount Bingham Hill Climb. So three more trophies for her. I will post some pictures as soon as I am able. Look out for her in a future issue of MG Enthusiast and also in Octane Magazine. |
