MG MG Y Type - Petrol tank

Can anyone identify this petrol tank as being from a Y type?

Part number is 35852 which is the old numbering system before computerisation in 1959. The metal plate on the tank says Manufactured by Morris Motors Ltd, Radiators Branch, Osberton Works, Oxford, with the part number and a serial number 0033,

Overall sizes are 29in x 6.5in x 13in. Capacity is calculated at 8 gall.

The fuel outlet and gauge sender hole are on the rear, drain plug underneath and fill pipe is on the LH.

It came with a job lot (rest already cleared years ago) as I thought it might come in handy!! What are we like???

I have done some research but cannot find out vehicle it might fit. But it will be pre 1960 and maybe 1940's?

Fuel filler should be on the forward left side and the fill pipe is removeable from the tank.

It depends whether we are looking at the front side of the tank or the back side. Does the front side have a stud in the center? If so, and the filler vent is on the right (as you look at the tank) it could be Y Type. The Y Tank is also deeper at the front than at the rear.
