MG MG Y Type - Perfect cure for a bad back...!

Yesterday evening I finally got my correct 8" clutch and started to refit it. Unfortunately I hurt/dislocated my (bad) back on Sunday whilst; I looked like a (aching) banana when viewed from behind.

So I did not look forward to lifting gearboxes in awkward positions and strapped myself in a motorcycle kidneybelt and got to work. After much sweating and swearing caused by clutchplate-centering headaches and rear mount juggling, at 10 o'clock the gearbox finally slid against the engine. Much relieved I decided to call it a day and carefully slid out of the car, dreading the shape my back would be in. To my amazement it was straight and less painfull, today the pain has gone.

Is this a whole new gyropractic-market waiting to tapped? :-)

Tonight I will treat my back to further assembly and hope that the judder-problem is history; the old plate was severly glazed and the gearbox mounting-rubbers fresh and firm.

Ah Willem, would that you had consulted the Hints and Tips page (or even me to see if there was a cheat!) before struggling with mounting the gearbox for on there I think you would find (should find?) a tip to screw two cylinder block bolts into two of the housing bolt holes on the engine and then alignment becomes easy!

If it isnt up there then it jolly well should be as I meant to put it on there, so let me know if you cannot find it!

Even if I had read that tip, it would not have been of much use. The local hardwarestore only has metric and unlike many of you I don't have a large pile of spare parts from which I can pick two cylinder block bolts; shame on me!
