MG MG Y Type - Pedal Box

Hi. I am new to MG Ya's and am in the throes of a complete ground up restoration. I know just about every part on any pre-war car. Due to being involved in building them in Just post war Birmingham. However there is always one thing that stops you (Me) dead is something you know what it is and where it goes but for the love of Ada, wonder how it comes apart. I have hit such a part. I need the help of anyone who has worked on this item. I have the tub off, I have stripped all bits off it. I see that the Pedal box is full of Yukkkk! and needs to be removed to clean it up. I have removed the 4 nuts and bolts from the side panel, and removed panel. The box appears to be welded to the chassis(On the top side) I have phot's of all sides. There is the hole at the rear, where the clutch cylinder is, and front side is the clutch cable coming out. I just cannot believe that it is a factory part. HELP!!!!!!!!!
If anyone would like to comment, or to see mphoto's of item in situ, please email me.

Hi Gordon

Yes the pedal box IS a factory fit.

Actually it is quite a fun little thing ... and a total pain to work in!

The brake master cylinder is the piece that connects at the back, and the clutch cable comes out of the front. I am sure that is what you meant :-)

The box itself does not come off ... unless you cut it off which I would not recommend.

To clean it out first (as the body and all the other stuff is off) you can use a air gun or high pressure water hose to blow/rinse out the debris. Then, if there is grease residue in there, just get in there as best you can with a paper towel to get the worst out before using grease solvents. I am presuming that you have already got the clutch and brake pedal out? If you havent, drop me a note off line and I will run through that with you you.
