MG MG Y Type - New YA-YT Master Cylinder
| For around 200 Euros, you can get a freshly manufactured YA-YT master cylinder instead of having your old one refurbished. That's what I chose to do because I didn't want to wait for the repair or risk loosing this almost irreplaceable component in transit. C&C Parts of the Netherlands (http://www.ccparts.nl/home_eng.htm) also manufactures the rare front wheel cylinder. For its part, the rear wheel cylinder for a YA-YT is easy to find since it corresponds to the front wheel cylinder for a TD. As you can see from the attached pictures, the C&C master cylinder uses a remote fluid reservoir that you mount on the firewall. I find this most convenient.

| C&C parts produces first rate brake and hydraulic components. When I rebuilt my TC a few years ago I got the complete braking system from them. On the YT I had the brakes done before I ever heard of C&C but I have had them rebuild my Jackall pump. Terry |

| Yes C&C are excellent. I was unaware of their offering on the Master Cylinder though and that looks an amazing kit they supply. Thank you Gilles for bringing it to our attention and I will update the links page accordingly in due course. Paul |

| Wiel at C&C developed this master cylinder quite a few years ago. I recall the late Rob Silk, who had one fitted to his Y many years ago, told me that the Dutch MOT required the Brake Reservoir to be visible. Wiel also developed the dual banjo brake pressure switch that fits the YA/YT brake master cylinder. The brake pipes on a YA/YT are 1/4 inch as opposed to 3/16 inch as fitted to YBs and most cars of the 50s/60s. These cars can use the standard 'T' connection to fit the pressure switch. Those of us who have these fitted the dual banjo solution know how superior these are to the original switches. We added C&C to the links on the website many years ago and I strongly endorse the comments above upon the quality of their products. Regards. |
