MG MG Y Type - Museum Needs Parts
The San Diego Automotive Museum is currently in the midst of a full restoration of a 1953 MG Y "T" and is in need of the following parts: 1. A full set of gas, brake and clutch pedals and linkages. for a RHD car. 2. An original style air cleaner designed for a dual carb set up. You can contact me at aurelelinda@yahoo.com Any help or leads will be appreciated.

Hi there It wont be a 1953 YT as they ceased production of the YT in 1950. However, I can probably sort you out with some of your needs for the pedals. If you can send me a photo of what you have currently, I can work out what you are missing and I can see what I have that you need. The original YT air cleaner is a scarce beast indeed though – I bought one on eBay a short while ago and it cost a lot. It isn’t 100% correct but you can put a TD one on as a temporary measure. Send me your photos though and we’ll go from there. I will also put a copy of this note in an email to you too. Paul

Had a look in the shop and I have: Clutch Pedal Gas pedal Splined bar that clutch and brake pedal use, but sadly no brake pedal Clutch pedal will need a rubber pad/cover on it – but these are easily obtainable. Let me know if you have difficulties and I will see what I can do. As you will have seen, I am also the webmaster at www.mgytypes.org so would just ask for you to please Register the car with us (http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccy/registeryoury.htm) and complete the section to post your car on Ys on Parade too. We aren’t bothered about it not being all bright and shiny as you can always update your entry at any time. I believe that posting a picture on the site, and explaining what you are doing – i.e. restoring it, may well open up some doors for you. Y owners are a pretty helpful bunch. Look forward to hearing from you and I will get your bits off to you as soon as possible. Paul
