MG MG Y Type - MGCC Y Type SPRING WEEKEND 14th/15th May 2011

The MGCC Y Type Register Spring Weekend will be centred in the Peak District over the weekend of 14/15 May 2011.

Our Dinner will be held at the Charles Cotton Hotel in the village of Hartington, Derbyshire which is approximately 12 miles SSE of Buxton. The 3 course meal will be £20 per head and 50 covers have been reserved. The hotel has accommodation though it is limited. However, they do have 3 dog friendly rooms and the cost for a Double Room including Bed and Breakfast is £90.There are plenty of B and B's in the area which are probably cheaper.

The Run, details of which are yet to be resolved, will start from the Hotel Car Park and the finish is something that is being worked on.

If you are interested in coming to the Dinner then please contact me, preferably by e-mail: jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com. If you wish to book a room then please mention the MG Car Club Y Type Register. Contact details for the Hotel are info@charlescottonhotel,co.uk, the website address is www.charlescottonhotel.co.uk and the phone number is 01298 84229. Ask for Judy the Hotel Manager.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

Dear Y Typers

M.G. Y TYPE SPRING WEEKEND MOVES NORTH!
May 14/15TH 2011

Following discussions last year during the MGCC Y Type Register’s Spring Weekend in the Malvern’s Jo suggested that in 2011 we visit the Peak District and catch up with some our northern based Y owners.

So after 13 years of travelling around the Cotswolds we decided to venture to pastures new. The Peak District is a very popular National Park which covers an extensive area and for this reason we decided to
locate ourselves to the south of Buxton.

The pattern of our Spring Runs have changed to a weekend which is a far better way of enabling friends to meet up, rather than a rushed few hours on a Sunday afternoon. This allows us to have a relaxed Dinner amongst friends and then a leisurely day travelling to a suitable finishing point.

This year is no exception. The difficulty is finding somewhere to take between 50-60 for a dinner at a location that is both accessible and has suitable car parking. However, after consulting Ordnance Survey Maps and the 'net we came across the village of Hartington, 13 miles SW of Buxton. This is a delightful village with most of the activity in the central core opposite the village green.

We will be based at the Charles Cotton Hotel, Hartington, Derbyshire (www.charlescotton.co.uk) and a reservation has been made for up to 60 covers on the evening of Saturday 14th May 2010. A 3-4 course meal will be provided at a cost of £20 per head. More information will be forthcoming in the New Year and a menu will be available from the Hotel in due course.

There are plenty of B and B’s available locally and the internet is one of the best ways to find suitable accommodation.

The following day is the Spring Run and the start will be from the car park outside the Hotel at 11.00 am. We will be taking a fascinating route along the Dove Valley and then by way of the Leek and Manifold valley through to Crich where we will be visiting the National Tramway Museum (www.tramway.co.uk) We have been allocated a 'pride of place’ and will provide an opportunity for the visiting public to appreciate the delight and charm of the range of M.G. Y Types.

The cost of entering the run is £12.50 (which includes a Rally Board and Route Book) access into Crich is free for pre 1968 vehicles and drivers, with passengers paying £9.00 a head (or £8.00 for OAP’s). You can download an application form by visiting the MGCC website http://www.mgccyregister.com/ and clicking on the Events Tab. Or from the International M.G. Y Type Register, go to Links and click on the MG Car Club Y Type Register tab, which will take you directly through to the website.

If you need anymore details then please me then please do contact me by e-mail (jerrybirkbeck@btinternet.com). I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a great Y Type Christmas and New Year
