MG MG Y Type - MG YT Windshield Identification

Greetings from New Zealand Y people

I am restoring a TD. I was in need of a complete windshield and found one in Australia that was said to be from a TD. However, when it arrived it turned out not to be. Altough at first glance it looks right, it is taller and the scuttle brackets are smaller than on a TD. I suspect it is for a YT and am hoping someone can confirm this so I can find a home for it and recover some of my costs (it is too expensive to ship back to Oz).

In the centre, outer edge to outer edge, it is 11 3/8 inches high.

across the top rail it is 39 1/2 inches

across the bottom it is 41 3/8 inches, straight across - not following the curve

The scuttle brackets are 5 inches across the straight bottom edge

Confirmation of YT origins or suggestions for other origins gratefully accepted.

Dont think it is off a YT - mine is away at the chromers right now, but I think you will find the YT screen was larger than the TD.

I have used the measurements quoted and checked them against my YT and it is a match. Although I am confused about the scuttle brackets being smaller - I too thought that they were larger than a TD.

The YT windscreen is much rarer than the TD and therefore should sell at a premium. Can I suggest that it might be a good idea to put it on the classifieds on the Y register website www.mgytypes.org

Given that the majority of YT are Oz and there are few in NZ I suspect it may have to go back.

I think the YT scuttle brackets are definitely smaller. I found this ad for YT scuttle bracket rubber pads in the completed listings on ebay:

and the dimensions quoted exactly match those of the brackets that came with this YT screen. And they are smaller than the TD brackets I have.
