MG MG Y Type - Lucas Horn
Can anyone please provide a photograph and description of the correct method of mounting the single horn (hooter) on a YT? I have checked three different YTs over here in Switzerland, but they all had modified arrangements. |

| Hi Anton The single Lucas Altette horn, as fitted to the Y and non EXU Y/Ts is the same. Even YBs up to YB 0459 also carried the single Lucas Altette too. In the front forward cross member of all Y chassis (even beyond YB 0459 I suspect but do not know) you will find a small threaded hole off center to the left. From memory, this may be 1/4 Whitworth I cannot totally recall, but it is either 3/8W or 1/4W. This is used to secure a half circle bracket. The bracket itself is available from the usual suppliers- Moss Europe, Moss USA and NTG if purchased as a complete unit with the horn. If it is just the bracket you require, I may have a spare kicking around in my shop somewhere. If I do I will post a picture here later. If you need a horn as well though you may as well buy direct. Hi Paul Any luck yet with taking a picture? Anton |

| Hello Anton Have attached picture of the Lucas Horn as attached to my Ya, as Paul said to the front cross member with a C bracket. Assume it's the same as the YT. I trust this helps. Im sure Paul will let us know if it's not the correct type. Regards Terry Y2866

| Thanks Paul I seem to remember, that there was an additional u.chaped bracket, so the horn would face forward. But then, I stripped the car some 30 years ago. Best, Anton |
