MG MG Y Type - Ignition Warning Light
Can anyone help - mine does'nt work. With the ignition 'on' there is a voltage across the terminals of the unit. Having checked the bulb as OK, and with the bulb screwed in as far as I can get it, there is an open circuit between the two terminals on the unit, which consists of a resistance in series with the bulb. (this can be seen on the wiring diagram). The unit has the reference 'Lucas WL4' moulded into it, but having contacted several of the specialist suppliers, nobody seems to know anything about this one. An obvious solution would be to use a plain bulb holder and connect a resistance externally. But of what value? TonyK

Tony - you can buy replacement ignition warning lights that might be made to fit. Try: http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/en/1339~ignition~indicator+lamp-details/

It is a standard LUCAS ignition light as fitted to millions of Nuffield and early BMC cars. Try The Morris Minor Centre in Bath who will stock the Morris Minor Series MM ( early Morris 1000) ignition light. NC.
