MG MG Y Type - Friends down under

Can I just use the BBS to thank some Y owners in Victoria, Australia. On a trip to Melbourne in Feb/March this year to see our eldest daughter [who is teaching over there] I was fortunate enough to contact Neil Wakeman (who lives in Melbourne) before departing from the UK. Neil arranged to meet up with me one day [actually saved me from an all female shopping trip]and take me out to see not only his YA (under restoration), but four others as well. We went to see the YAs of Malcolm Hickman (a retired A grade mechanic), Mel Fry, Colin Brown (out in the Yarra Valley), and Peter Shields (a retired dentist). Colin Brown is in the fortunate position of having not only his YA but quite a few classics in his delightful estate; including an XK Jaguar, a T type and a TR3 to name just part of his collection. Needless to say my camera was busy and I would have shared a few photos with you all except my old Nikon Coolpix CF card has since refused to play ball and let me download the photos - seems to be a fault with the card! What a great day out I had and 5 YAs in one day too. Just shows what nice people Y type owners are and how friendly our cousins 'down under' are - thank you Neil and co.

Although I am still unable to download the photos I of the 5 Y types I saw in Melbourne recently [because of a faulty camera CF card] I am attaching a photo of one of the cars namely Neil Wakeman's YA ...as you can see he's making a great job of it and it was good to see it in the flesh!

Try Googling Card Recovery Software, there are a few free ones about, I had one come free with my memory card, but not needed to use it yet.
The main thing is to not over write the card untill you have recovered every thing of it. you can then afterwards reformat it to see if it is ok.

Thanks for posting the picture of my Y Type work-in-progress. Before anybody comments, I do not intend to use a piece of orange plastic electrical conduit for an exhaust pipe! For one thing, who ever heard of an orange exhaust pipe?

I can't easily take my chassis to the exhaust pipe shop so I bent up a length of plastic conduit (cost $A4 from the local hardware store, electrical department) to give to the pipe bender, to use as a pattern. I heated up the conduit with a heat gun where the bends were required and when it cooled, the bends remained. Have now received the pipe made from 1½" OD steel tube and it fits perfectly!
