MG MG Y Type - EP 90 Gear oil

The gearbox and final drive on the YB needs an EP 90 hypoid gear oil. Note that there are two types (or specifications) now available - the modern type is rated GL5 whilst what we use in our cars should be GL4 [which is still available]. GL5 is fine but apparently can attack components used in older gearboxes & axles (phosphor bronze bushes etc) so stick to GL4 if buying EP90. Halfords still sell the GL4 specification but always look on the container before buying. Any one else know more about this -if it's been covered here before apologies!
[The YA/YT are spiral bevel axles so this may need a diferent oil than EP90.]

It is expensive I know ... but you fit it so rarely that it is worth it ... but I use Penrite oils for both the gear box and the rear axles.
