MG MG Y Type - EF or FI needle?
| My YA has an EF needle in the carburettor, which is the weaker/leaner needle as opposed to the standard FI needle. This weekend I collected the spare SU H2 I bought some time ago and it has a good FI needle that I could use. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to fit the standard needle but I read in one of the newly added SF Y-registers articles that someone was very pleased with the performance and economy of his EF-equipped YB. What are your thoughts on this, maybe in relation to modern fuels; do they require a leaner or richer mixture? The engine still has a standard height cilinderhead, so low compression. |

| Hi Willem I changed to the weaker needle when this article was published ... the first time around, and the car runs great on unleaded. Paul |
