MG MG Y Type - Drivers exterior front door handle
| I don't know if anyone has noticed but replacement front drivers door handles on the Y type lack the threaded hole in the end of the shaft that is on the inside of the door when the handle is fully home. The purpose of this is that a small screw and washer goes in the threaded hole and stops the door handle being removed from outside (by losening the 2 rather obvious screws). Is it possible to use an original handle (which has the thread) with a lock from a new handle as my drivers door handle lock is broken but the replacement lacks the threaded hole used to secure the handle on the inside of the door. |

| David, I found the same problem with a replacement handle. The shaft was long enough to vertically drill it and use a split pin and washer instead of the screw. Ted |
