MG MG Y Type - 'D' Day - Virtual Gallery (500 Cars)

I don’t know how many Y Owners have noticed that D (That is 500 in Roman Numerals) Day was reached a couple of days ago on Saturday 10th September. The Virtual Galley of Y Types, the innovation of Paul Barrow, back in April 2002, now boasts a total of 500 cars: 253 Ys, 122 YBs and 125 YTs. Cars are represented from no less than 26 different countries. Without doubt the International MG Y Register truly represents a like minded community of Y owners and the success of the website http://www.mgytypes.org can be attributed to its standing in the International Community.

I think that it is also fitting that the 500th Car was an entry from Australia, a country whose owners have contributed 135 cars to the Gallery and information relating to many others.

Congratulations Paul on this unique achievement. Also thanks to the team of International Representatives and all who have contributed in accomplishing this Milestone.

Clearly the site goes from strength to strength and without paid advertising, or any club support, visitors can be assured that it is, and will remain, totally independent. Its aim and intention was, and remains to this day, to promote the wider ownership and enjoyment of these wonderful MGs .

Congratulations to all the Y-Typers around the world who have helped make this unique milestone.

It is a stellar achievement for a purely voluntary and social fraternity such as ours to have grown to this size - and long may it continue to do so.

I would especially like to thank Paul Barrow for his years, and years of support, dedication, and damn hard work in making all of this possible through the website - well done my friend.

And to David Pelham, who looks after the IMGYTR Public Relations, thank you for your support and hard work in many unseen areas for both the IMGYTR and the MGCC Y-Register. Their loss is our gain !.

There are many more Y-Types to be revealed from Down Under, so keep those entries coming in fellow Australians, let's get to the top of the list in numbers.

See you all "on the road" (in a Y-Type of course) !.

My most sincere thanks go out to all the Y Owners out there who have shared their Ys with everyone. The figure of 500 in actually 10 times more than I ever expected, but I know there are more out there that are not yet on Ys on Parade. So, if you have a second, or even a third Y that you havent yet posted, or you think your Y is not up to some imaginary "standard" of presentation I would urge you please to reconsider and share your car with us. With over 1/4 million visitors in less than 10 years there is clearly a strong desire out there for more pictures of Ys out there that we all want to see so please share your enjoyment of your Y with us.

A big thank you too from me to all the International Representatives out there too who do a great job locally to help out Y owners too.

I guess the next mile stone will have to be maybe 750? It is your website, please show us your Y too.

Another unsung hero in the success of www.mgytypes.org has also to be our partner and generous host - Mike PLumstead and DMR, without whom we would not have a home!!

Thank you too Mike and the crew, for all that you do to enable us to enjoy ourselves. We wish you every continued success too.
