MG MG Y Type - changes to MOT test
| There is talk that the government propose to end the MOT requirement on vehicles built before 1965. Personally it rings alarm bells regarding the present unrestricted use of these vehicles on public roads. It could be that there is difficulty in applying modern test procedures to pre 65 vehicles [braking weights, position of lights, emissions etc], if this is the case then I would have thought that some 1965-1980 cars would have just the same problem. May be the government see us owners as good upstanding paragons of virtue and honesty! So whats going on, can anyone throw some light on these proposals? Bryan |

| The problem arises that if other European states insist on a form of MOT then will our cars be refused entry to those countries, I think that there must be a form of test for our cars recognised elswhere. I personally feel much more happy that my car is in good order by having an independent rigorous inspection in spite of the confidance I have in my own work. Perhaps our friends in other Europian countries can comment. Bryan |
