MG MG Y Type - Cam Followers
| In my intention to bring my 1948 YA engine up to TD spec I have uncovered what may be a problem to YType owners who intend to keep to original spec. New cam followers purchased recently have 8 oil holes drilled into the walls which may be in a slightly different position to original YA followers. The top 4 holes are 2mm lower than the original items, it's not much for a TC - TF where the cam - shaft lobes are about 5.5mm lift but on a worn YA the followers may only lift 3.5mm. On my engine the oil holes hardly appear with the counter sink drilling the only access into the follower. For myself this should be no problem when the TD cam shaft is fitted. |
