MG MG Y Type - Boot bits and back lights
| I am doing some work on YB1506 and I am puzzled by two fibre boards found in the boot, they seem to fit on each side of the boot space but I can't see how they fit. Probably difficult to explain, anybody like to try? NTG offer a step panel for the boot, where is this fitted? Are the YB back lights the same as the MGA, they look similar from a distance except the rubber plinth |

| OK the easy one first - step panel is the one that goes under the spare wheel across the top of the fuel tank and then drops down to where the tool storage is. Technically this is in the Spare Wheel Compartment locker not the trunk/boot, but symantics! OK the fiber boards - yes they do go on the sides and there should be another across the back of the rear seat too. How do the fit? Tightly, so getting them in the right position is tough, however, they should have a creasing fold score on them and that should run from the boot floor/lid edge up into the upper corner of the rear seat panel (from memory so dont put a contract out on me if I have that wrong!). | Thanks for info Paul, I think my boot panels are damaged as there is no crease and I have no seatback one. Anyone have a pattern for these? Red face regarding back lights, these are obviously non standard but probably MGA Brian |

| I think I can probably help you out there too Brian. I am in California currently but as soon as I get back home I will see if I can get something sorted out for you. In the interim, as you are in the UK, go onto the Woolies website (you can find a link from our Links page,at www.mgytypes.org) and order a roll of their black Millboard - SKU48 £11 a roll plus shipping. You will need a sharp Stanley knife and the strength of an ox to cut it, but it is the best material around! Paul |
