MG MG Y Type - Alf Luckman
Received this sad email today from the MGCC Sydney. Alf Luckman, a long standing member of the MGCC, since 1978, passed away on Friday May 21 in Woden Hospital, ACT. Until his recent move to Canberra, Alf has held many volunteer roles within the Club, including that of Registrar Rep for Post War Saloons and organiser of the infamous Fish and Chip run . He regularly spoke at meetings which he attended on a regular basis and will be greatly missed. Funeral details as follows: Thursday 27th May at 12 noon, Norwood Park Crematorium, Mitchell. ACT. Dot and family has asked for some MG’s to be present.

Sad news as Alf was a very well known Y type stalwart. Condolences to the family and I am sure he will get a few Y types at his funeral.

It is always a sad time when this happens, especially to one who was such a great guy as Alf. Anyone who came into contact with him cannot help but be saddened by his passing, and my deep condolences to the family on their loss. Paul

As everyone has said, Alf was a lovely guy: when I visited him and Dot at their home in Sydney in 2002 they were wonderful hosts. They introduced me to Australia's national cake, the Lamington, and I've kept up my interest in this ever since. His answer to my rueful observation about the low price of fuel in Oz, compared to what we pay here in the UK, was a crisp one: "Well Tim, you've got to remember that we have a lot further to go than you do". I had no reply handy. Thank you Alf, and my thoughts and prayers to your family. Tim
