MG MG Y Type - Accident repairs

Hello folks. This thread may only be of interest to UK East Anglia readers. I have a YA which has just received a 'smack up the bum' and I am looking for a competent classic car repairer to undertake the repair work through my insurer. Any qualified suggestions please? Thanks Peter

Oh lorde be! I think I speak for everyone to say how sorry we are.

How close are you to Norwich? My strongest suggestion would be that you call my very good friends John and Lou Shorten who normally deal only with MG Z Magnettes. John however is an excellent panel maker and can fit anything. Their phone number is (+44 from outside the UK, 0 if in the UK) the 1603 872436. Please give them both my love. Lou drove a Y before she bought and drove her first ZA so you will be dealing with very sympathetic people there.

If there are special pieces of body you need then also talk to Mick Beakhouse at Sportscar Metalworks who is also not too far from you. He makes some great Y panels but wouldnt be able to do a body repair ... but could be a good supplier to John Shorten for stuff he doesnt want to make for you.

These people are well known for their restoration work and indeed I bought some Y Type spares from them some years ago. I have no interest in the business, but pass on the info to help.
It would be helpfull to others if you report back in due course, on the repairs, whoever does it for you.

Thank you for your help Paul. Yes I know Lou and John very well as they are members of the 'Natter' I attend at Longham. I know that John is rushed off his feet making Z panels. However I will speak to them about it. Again thanks, Peter
