| Giles There were examples of the 'TD' at the National Classic Car Show in the UK last November. Interesting but if I had $56k or £24k available and wanted a TD I wouldn't waste it on this. Yes it's modern and reliable but there are a lot of ugly finishes that destroy the lines of the vehicles.Better use the £26k more wisely and by an excellent Y and a proper TD ... or a good Y and an MX5.. or heresy I know but buy a Morgan. Goodness knows what they would do to a Y, other than it would be more than double the cost but again would be let down by the details. Interestingly, you may recall the Naylor TF which was built by MG T Type restorer Alistair Naylor - that was pretty good and although there are a few around the production ran into 100's rather than 1000's or 100,000's. It will be fascinating to see how the 'TD' shapes up and more so the profile of the owners targeted. In fairness to the manufacturers I have never driven a TD - though replicas and throwbacks whilst they do have a market are more often are examples of E-Types, Porsches and Italian exotica where the price of the original is well in excess of the replica. Which is just not the case with the 'TD'. We will see - but dont expect any manufacturer to produce a replica Y Type.. they wouldn't even know a Y if they saw it in the street! | Unless they have gone out of business,or it's the same car, TD Cars(malaysia) has been making a TD look-a-like for some years; 8 I guess as it's called the TD2000 or maybe that's the capacity? Try http://www.td-2000.com/ Michael |
