| Interesting to see that the car has wind deflectors fitted to the front doors. I had these on the YB (UMG 780) that I owned in the early 1970s. I have never seen them on another Y Type, or indeed in photographs. The whereabouts of UMG 780 is unknown. I sold it to my brother, who first 'customised' it and then partly dismantled it in preparation for restoration. He died in 1999 and the car was sold by his widow. Unfortunately, she cannot remember the buyer. The car is still registered in my brother's name. If anyone knows where it is, I would be interested to know. I fear that it ended up in the big scrapyard in the sky!

| My YA GBX 166 has custom built deflectors and there was an entertaining thread about them on the Bulletin Board a few years back. The ones on the ebay Y are Auster deflectors I think and are often seen on MG Ts. If you look through Ys on Parade you'll find a few that have them but I have never found out where mine came from or seen another Y with similar deflectors. Anorak; Moi? Whoever paid £310 for this Y has got a lot of very useable bits for their money. Peter

| Hi Mike and Peter I have wind deflectors fitted/though not often used with the YT I also picked upa pair from one of the MG Suppliers at a show for the TA. The fomer are certainly of the home made variety whilst the latter were not particularly robust, which is probably why they were realtively cheap! I am sure you are right Peter in suggesting that Auster, who manaufactured windscreens, made deflectors as extras. If I remember I'll bring the deflectors with me to tomorrow's run. Sincerely Jerry |
