MG MG Y Type - 1950 ya on eBay

The same YA (#5095) that was sold by Leake Auctions on September 20th for $6,600 is now for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now of I think $7,700. It's the same car and apparently materially unchanged from when I sold it in 1978 -- same paint and interior. I dip stripped the removable parts, repainted it, new wiring harness and interior, and cut out and replaced all rust in duck tail and doors. Leake said the car had no brakes and the new seller doesn't say. The new seller has listed the car mileage as 50k but I sold it with about 78,000 showing and Leake listed current mileage as about 87,000. If the engine has held up for these last 31 years, it's a good car with only weak brakes. I rebuilt the tranny and put in a new clutch. Engine only needed a valve job then and one new valve guide. There was a vibration in the drive shaft even after I had it balanced, but no other drive problems. Jackall worked fine when I had it.

Should be a good deal for someone. I'll gladly share what I know for anyone who is interested. Oh, I had the trafficators and their control ring on the steering wheel working -- but that was long ago.

Let's hope it gets a good home. Ever thought of buying it back!

Ross, I am interested in the YA on ebay and live in central NC. Perhaps you could share with me some of what you know and what should be asked of the seller before I commit to another project as the Magnette ZB is not very far underway as of yet. You can contact me by email at yocumk(at)gmail(dot)com. Thanks in advance for your input. Kent

Oh yes, I seriously thought of bidding. But I have a nice Twin Cam that's already not getting enough attention, and no garage space. So at 63 I'm finally realizing my limits.
