MG Midget and Sprite Technical - wider handle?

Hi guys! easy question for you lot but have looked in books but cant seem to find the answer! anyway have taken winder handle off pass side door so i can remove the door panel; but once removed there is a large hex nut which the handle connects to! how is this hex nut removed so i can get the card off?

many thanks steve.

oh and i got a supprise when i had a peak under the door card as it looks like my car was teal blue and resprayed orange during the rebuild a few years ago!

You don't remove the large hex nut - it is part of the winder mechanism. The hole in the door card should be large enough to pull the card off over the hex nut.
The card is held by spring clips located along the bottom and side, about 15mm in from the edge. Work your way around levering under each clip with a large flat bladed screwdriver rather than just pulling at the card which may damage the fixings.
Guy

doh! thanx guy. no wonder i couldn't find how to remove it!
