MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Water control tap midget 1500

The water control tap for the heater , can i remove it and reroute the water pipes ?
Also the long air hose for the heater , does it make a difference to the heater if i remove it altogether ?

thanks

Yes you can directly connect in and output of the heater only the heater willnot heat ;)
And ditching the air hose is no problem certainly if the heater is out any way

At the moment the water pipe runs to the tap then from there to the heater , so i was thinking of just bypassing the tap and running the pipe directly to the heater . I would have thought that this would create a permanent flow to the heater and therefore the heater would still work . Am i correct in thinking that ?

So if i still want the heater and want it working , does the removal of the air hose affect the heater in anyway ?

yes if you take the heater tap vavle out the heater will always be on with heat to windscreen and feet if you open the foot flaps/doors

taking the fresh air trunking off will mean you get the air from the engine instead of out side plus possibly bringing different smells and temperates

you could close the heater flap but you wont be able to use the blower motor if it's on the same switch

you'll also lose the ram effect so you might need to use the blower motor more

as an experiement you can find what effect it would make in the summer by leaving the heater tap fully open and removing the trunking

thanks for your replies
D Stratton

no problem

I was a little confused as I thought you had a 1098

if you've not alreay got one then £7/8 invested in an owners Handbook is the best money you'll spend on your car

reading it thoroughly and refering to it when with the car will have you well clued up

I'll stop there :)
